We’re looking for an Eastern Regional Health & Safety Coordinator professional with good construction experience, a practical eye, excellent communication, coaching, training and problem-solving skills, and a good understanding of the contracting business.
Your duties will include:
- Conduct H&S orientation and other construction related H&S training;
- Maintain local H&S training records (office level);
- Act as a resource to project managers and other local staff to assist in the preparation on H&S plans and hazard assessments and to coach through site inspections;
- Follow-up on local recommendations for improvement;
- Work with the H&S Development team to develop and revise Safe Work Procedures as required;
- Visit construction sites across the region to conduct project level H&S audits and provide the site staff with hands-on Health and Safety coaching;
- Facilitate hazard and incident investigations;
- Fill out and submit WCB claims reports and help manage the return to work program.
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Formal training in Occupational/Construction Health and Safety up to the level of a Health and Safety Officer or higher;
- Minimum of 5 years experience in the field of construction site H&S;
- Experienced H&S trainer;
- Superior written and verbal communications and presentations skills;
- Travel within Ontario and Quebec will be required (approximately 40% to 70%).
