The company's Northern Plains Exploration group is looking for a senior geologist interested in an opportunity to work with a fast paced multi-disciplinary team of geologists, geophysicists, engineers, and land personnel. As the successful candidate you will be responsible for properties that are located W5/deep basin areas, cover the stratigraphic column from shallow Cretaceous to Devonian, and see drill depths to 3500 metres or greater. This position will develop new exploration concepts as well as provide development support for existing properties.
Specific duties include:
- Integration of geological and geophysical concepts/maps.
- Developing an economically viable exploration and development drilling programs.
- Providing input into locations for seismic acquisition.
- Managing area assets and land base.
- Providing on-going support to existing production operations.
- Assessing land sales as well as potential farmins, farmouts, acquisitions and divestitures.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have:
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Geology.
- A minimum of 5 years of oil and gas experience, preferably in the W5/deep basin areas. Experience in both exploration and development would be highly desirable.
- Be registered, or capable of registration with APEGGA.
- Knowledge of petroleum geology, sequence stratigraphy and exploration principles from basin analysis to prospect definition.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Accumap, Geographix, and the ability to work with and learn to use a variety of geological software.
- Well developed oral and written communication and presentation skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to work, as a professional, in a well established multi-disciplinary team environment. Good teamwork skills are essential.
- Excellent organizational skills to handle a wide variety of tasks in a fast paced environment with changing priorities.
- A willingness and commitment to maintain documentation of interpretive and operational results.
