Location: Calgary, AB, Canada

This position is located in the Petro-Canada Centre in Calgary. The successful candidate will lead the Canadian Payroll team that provides payroll services & support for over 5,000 Canadian employees.
 
Accountabilities:
This individual is responsible for designing, staffing and operating the systems, processes and procedures related to Canadian Payroll. This would include:
  • Processing Payrolls for four different legal entities using SAP HR/Payroll;
  • Providing process and SAP support to timekeeping staff across the country;
  • Ensuring compliance with payroll legislation & regulation in numerous jurisdictions as well as with corporate policy and collective agreements;
  • Ensuring the reliability, accuracy and timeliness of payroll data, processes and interfaces on a pay period and annual basis;
  • Liaising with SAP I/S, HR, Finance and other service partners to ensure mutual business requirements are met in a timely and effective manner;
  • Leading and developing a team of payroll professionals;
  • Updating and developing payroll processes & procedures to support changing business requirements in a dynamic company.
 
Capability Requirements:
 
Specific Functional/Technical Skills
  • Experience with SAP Payroll and HR (or similar enterprise wide systems);
  • Possesses an Accounting or Payroll designation;
  • Demonstrates advanced Excel capability;
  • Proficient with the other elements of MS Office software and Intranet;
  • Minimum of 5 years supervision skills;
Project Management skills;
  • Knowledge of payroll legislation and practices.
General Skills/Knowledge/Attributes
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Effective team member and a demonstrated ability to work in a cooperative, positive and constructive manner with all levels of a corporate organization to effectively address business challenges;
  • Experienced working as a leader or senior member of project teams, taking responsibility for critical deliverables;
  • Effective team leadership skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a constantly changing environment that requires ongoing assessment and analysis of processes and procedures;
  • Experienced at researching information to understand or develop business processes from a variety of sources.
 
Additional Information:
Petro-Canada offers a very attractive total compensation and benefit package. Salary administration will be dependent on the skill level and experience of the successful candidate.
