The Company
Our Client operates one of the largest natural gas midstream businesses in Canada. Its three business lines consist of: natural gas gathering and processing; the processing, transportation, and storage of natural gas liquids (NGLs) and crude oil; and the marketing of NGLs. Their gas processing plants and associated facilities are strategically located in the north central and foothills natural gas production areas of the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin. The majority of our Client's processing facilities process both sour and sweet gas, have deep cut liquid recovery, and, in cases, have fractionation. As well, they operate pipelines, fractionation, storage, and terminals in the Edmonton/Fort Saskatchewan area.
The Function
The successful candidates will be based in the Calgary office providing project development, engineering, and management for projects associated with facilities throughout Western Canada. Based upon facility requirements, operations engineering support will be provided to facilities as an element of the job.
Duties include:
- Provide multi-disciplinary engineering services to evaluate, develop, and implement engineering solutions to realize business opportunities or address facility operating/performance issues.
- Develop and oversee implementation of engineering projects for plant and pipeline additions and/or modifications including feasibility studies, project scheduling, cost control, tender/bid packages, HSE and regulatory compliance.
- Prepare and maintain technical reference drawings and documentation relating to projects.
- Assist with process monitoring and optimization of various gas plant, compression, and pipeline facilities.
- 20% travel to field locations to interface with field operations and construction personnel in executing projects.
The Individual
- Engineering degree from accredited university and registered as a Professional Engineer in Alberta.
- Five to ten years mechanical and/or process engineering experience in implementing projects or providing operational support for gas and NGL processing facilities.
- Creativity in developing and evaluating alternate solutions to realize business opportunities.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational and analytical skills.
- Self-starter who is able to work independently with a minimum of supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to perform successfully in a multi-disciplined work team environment.
- Experience in natural gas processing, including familiarity with Hysys/Pipesys modeling.
- Familiarity with current acts and regulations (AEUB, ABSA, CSA, AEnv. etc.)
- Valid H2S Alive, WHMIS, TDG and First Aid Certificates would be an asset.
- Clean driving record.
- At the sole discretion of management, other combinations of directly related experience, educational credentials, living location, and extended posting may be considered.
