Position Synopsis:
OPTI Canada has an immediate opening for a Sr. HR Advisor. Reporting to the Manager HR, this individual will provide support to the business in the areas of Recruitment, Employee Relations, and other areas of HR as needed.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Actively facilitate the recruitment process in line with OPTI values, including establishing roles/responsibilities/screening criteria, drafting postings, and selecting the best method to source the ideal candidate (internal referrals, website postings, media, outsourced recruitment firms).
- Apply effective selection tools through screening resumes, preparing interview guides (if necessary), coordinating and conducting interviews with candidates, checking references and providing input into selection decisions.
- Provide compensation recommendations for hiring managers using compensation survey information.
- Assist managers with year end compensation reviews based on survey data.
- Preparation of documentation for prospective employees, including offer letters, non-disclosure agreements and benefits/savings plan summaries. Preparation and renewal of contracts for consultants being hired.
- Lead the negotiation process regarding employment/contract terms with both new employee hires and consultant hires.
- Act as prime point of contact for new employees and consultants until they have arrived for their orientation.
- Provide Employee Relations support to a designated portion of the business through coaching and advising managers.
- Assist in the compilation of staffing budgets and estimates.
- Write and review HR policies as necessary.
- Assist employees with relocation as needed in conjunction with OPTI's relocation service provider.
- Liaise with the joint venture partner's team to create synergies, minimize duplicate efforts and maintain coordination.
- Negotiate contracts and manage relationships with outsourced recruitment providers.
- Other projects or duties as required in a Human Resources Generalist capacity.
Education & Experience:
- 5 - 7 years generalist experience in Human Resources.
- Post-secondary degree with a focus in Business Administration or Human Resources is preferred.
- Well-versed in interviewing, selection, reference checking and sourcing techniques.
- Exceptional ability to develop positive working relationships, both internally and externally. Demonstrated client relations and service skills are essential.
- Strong administration skills, including the ability to manage and prioritise numerous assignments while meeting deadlines.
- Effective persuasion skills and an ability to resolve conflict.
- Strong analytical abilities and problem-solving skills.
