Overview
The Processing Geophysicist role is to progress and implement deployment of 3D/4D technology and enhanced imaging in support of Alaska field development and depletion activities.
Reporting Relationships:
The Alaska SPU Processing Geophysicist will be a member of the Technology & Resource Team and will report to the Technology & Resource Mgr. The initial focus of this role will be on Liberty Seismic processing for OBC data acquired in summer 2008. The Processing Geophysicist will initially be co-located and work as an integral member of the Liberty Subsurface Team.
Job Dimensions:
BP Alaska continues to be a foundational SPU among the Existing Profit Centers, contributing about 15% of production and more than 20% of cash returns. Alaska is further distinguished by a very large, but technically challenging, resource base including mature giant fields, satellite developments, a major long-term gas opportunity, large scale viscous/heavy oil potential, and world-scale mid-stream assets.
The Technology & Resource Team is a team within the Alaska Technical Directorate. Accountabilities include coordinating and delivering the strategic technologies to underpin the long term future of BP’s E&P Alaska businesses. The Processing Geophysicist role is to progress and implement deployment of 3D/4D technology and enhanced imaging in support of Alaska field development and depletion activities.
Position Requirements
Minimum 5 years experience with a focus in advanced imaging/processing and interpretation of seismic data.
Bachelors of Science or Advanced Degree in Geophysics
Demonstrated track record of effectiveness within multi disciplinary teams.
Exhibits HSE leadership.
An understanding of current best practices and common processes to insure these are embedded within the team.
Communicates effectively.

Basic knowledge of Land Seismic Acquisition
Basic knowledge of Ocean Bottom Seismic Acquisition
Basic knowledge of Marine Surface Tow Seismic Acquisition
In-depth knowledge of Marine Seismic Processing QA/QC
In-depth knowledge of Land Processing QA/QC
In-depth knowledge of In-house Seismic Processingtial
In-depth knowledge of Seismic Imaging R&D
In-depth knowledge of DHI/Seismic Attribute Analysis
Basic knowledge of Seismic Inversion / Net Pay / AVO
Basic knowledge of 4D Seismic Analysis
Basic knowledge of Interpretation Workstation Skills
In-depth knowledge of Depth Conversion
Basic knowledge of Non Seismic Geophysics
Basic knowledge of Survey - Positioning & Geodesy
