We are building a new dynamic entity, the Energy Resources Conservation Board (ERCB) to focus on Alberta’s regulatory framework for the oil and gas sector. The new ERCB is being created to strengthen and enhance our regulatory capacity to address the ever changing Western sedimentary basin and the expanding oil sands sector.
Alberta has a proud energy heritage and the new ERCB builds upon that tradition, including its predecessor Boards. The ERCB will act in the best interests of all Albertans in overseeing the efficient and effective development of our resources, while balancing the need for resource conservation, public safety, environmental protection, technical innovation and service. Conduct production facility, environmental, drilling/servicing and other various inspections to ensure compliance with ERCB Regulations and policies.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
· Communicate and consult with industry regarding problem areas and initiate enforcement
· Investigate incidents and complaints to ensure public safety, environmental protection, and resource conservation is being addressed
· Participate in Field Centre and Branch level initiatives
· Make formal and informal technical presentations to industry representatives
· Handle various on-call duties and respond to emergencies, as requested
· This position will require some travel and nights away from home
· Other general duties as may be required
QUALIFICATIONS
· Appropriate Technical Diploma with a minimum of 2 years related experience or equivalent post-secondary learning with progressive related experience
· Good knowledge of technical concepts
· Attention to detail and accuracy
· Good written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
· Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
· Good analytical skills and the ability to make decisions and exercise sound judgment within established guidelines.
· Willing to participate in ongoing technical and personal development training.
· Valid driver’s license along with good driving record
· Working knowledge of various computer software packages
