Position Summary
Contractor Evaluation
- Maintain and enhance Penn West Health and Safety Management System related to contractor management.
- Advise management and employees on the implementation and execution of the contractor management program, related to Health, Safety and Training issues.
- Conduct contractor evaluations and assessments, as per internal standards and guidelines
- Mentor Health, Safety and Training Coordinators in contractor evaluations and analysis.
- Provide contractor with, and advise contractors on, Penn West standards and acceptable methods to comply.
- Assist in developing and facilitating safety meeting presentations related to contractor management and evaluations.
- Assist the Procurement and Asset Management group in managing the completion of base information packages.
- Conduct spot site inspections and worker observations as part of worksite visits.
- Review and draft Codes of Practice (COP’s) rules, procedures and guidelines.
Training
- Facilitate Contractor Management related training programs and related Penn West Codes, Guidelines and Policies for employees and contract staff.
- Assist the Regulatory Affairs group in the identification and communication of updates on jurisdictional regulatory issues.
- Identify training needs, assessing and recommending the most efficient way to achieve desired results.
Event Reporting And Investigation
- Assist in the implementation of the event management system, including: providing technical resources, cause analysis and action plan development.
- Assist in and ensure quality control of event investigations and cause analysis of high-potential/high risk events.
- Work with relevant management personnel to measure the implementation of recommendations related to contractor management.
Required Experience & Skill Set:
- Formal training in Health and Safety Management Systems and an OH&S certificate from a recognized institution - CRSP, or other professional designation, preferred
- 5 years of experience in oil and gas operations is required.
- Minimum 5 years experience as a Safety Management System Evaluator
- Certification in a recognized auditing program
- Working knowledge of applicable provincial WH&S regulations and standards.
- Have an analytical aptitude with the ability to clearly and positively develop and communicate recommendations, both orally and in writing.
- Must be able to demonstrate competency with computer skills and software, including Microsoft - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access Database, etc.
- Must be able to work independently, as well as in a team environment.
- Weekly travel will be required, with expected in field to office ratio of 70/30.
