General Information
  • Reporting to the Manager, Client Relations within Human Resources, this role is accountable for providing dedicated Human Resources generalist consulting services.
  • In delivering effective human resources management and organizational effectiveness consulting this role will work in collaboration with the various subject matter experts within HR to provide effective solutions to the client.
Responsibilities
  • Provide both strategic and operational Human Resources and Organizational Effectiveness expertise in the areas of organizational design, resourcing strategy and recruitment, total compensation, labour and employee relations, performance management, leadership coaching, leadership development, change management, immigration, secondments and cross border assignment consulting to the client group.
  • Influence the design of enterprise wide programs to ensure the business needs of the oil pipeline business are contemplated.
  • Acquire or broker expertise regarding external competitive markets as it relates to recruitment and compensation in support of their client requirements.
  • Provide support in the on-boarding of new leaders and employees while ensuring the integration of current HR processes and practices into the project organization.
  • Provide leadership coaching to Leadership and other senior professionals in order to maximize retention and productivity.
  • In conjunction with the subject matter experts develop, design and implement tailored HR strategies and plans that contribute to the overall success of the client groups ( ie compensation, retention practices, workforce planning, leadership coaching, training and learning strategies)
  • Participate as an integral member of client group leadership teams to ensure the people and organizational perspective is considered in all proposed business decisions and organizational changes.
  • Ensure the Manager; Client Relations is aware of issues, hot spots, potential risks and progress by providing regular reports and feedback related to the HR services required for client groups.
Qualifications and Education
 
Education:
  • A Bachelors Degree in business or a Human Resources related area supplemented by recent course work in Human Resources ( ie labour relations, organizational effectiveness, change management, conflict resolution.)
  • A professional designation ie CHRP required.
Functional Competencies:
  • Previous experience working in a HR consulting advisory role.
  • Demonstrated internal consulting skills
  • 10 plus years of experience in a human resources consulting role preferably in a major projects or construction environment.
  • Demonstrated business acumen through knowledge of Trans Canada's business and organizational construct.
  • Previous experience working in a client relations role supported by centers of excellence (SME).
  • Knowledge of employee and labor relations issues and practices.
  • Knowledge of Human Resources Management areas including total compensation, recruitment, performance management, leadership development, change management, etc.
  • Knowledge and experience in implementing human resources and organizational effectiveness practices and programs.

  • Ability to analyze complex issues and determine the best solution or course of action to meet client needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to think systemically and anticipate impacts to other groups, systems and processes.
  • Demonstrated superior judgment.
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work at a functional and business facing level.
  • Ability to influence at all levels within the Project organization and be a contributing member of the leadership team.
  • Excellent client service skills.
  • Highly developed communication skills both written and oral abilities.
  • Demonstrated competencies in the areas of initiative, tenacity and flexibility.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and determine where escalation is required.
  • Demonstrated collaborative behaviors in delivering products and services to the client.
  • Excellent team leadership skills.
Other Information:
  • Travel within Canada and the US will be required
