Job Description

The secret of our success has and will continue to be our people. We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Drilling Engineer at our Elk Hills business unit. This position is responsible for providing engineering, operations, regulatory and supply chain management support for all exploration and development well work. Duties include but are not limited to the following:
 
Work closely with exploration teams and Reservoir Management Teams (RMTs) to ensure an understanding of well objectives and optimize well designs
Provide quality well designs that meet project well objectives utilizing established engineering tools and standards
Generate detailed, accurate and documented drilling time and cost estimates
Develop well researched and documented drilling procedures
Provide technical support on daily drilling operations and serve as the primary contact for field engineering issues
Provide full time engineering support to assigned drilling rig(s)
Perform engineering well surveillance during execution and write post-well engineering reports using established standards
Assure assigned wells are properly permitted and serve as a primary liaison with governmental regulatory offices
Manage contracts and contractors to continuous improvement via Contractor Management Standards
Work with Supply Chain Management (SCM) to prepare tenders, analyze vendor responses, award contracts and administer assigned contracts
Accountable for knowledge of and compliance with all applicable regulations and company HES training requirements and policies
 
Qualifications
 
Bachelors Degree in an engineering discipline.
Minimun 5 years of experience in drilling operations.
Analytical and problem solving capabilities
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent time management skills
Contractor performance management skills
Must be self-motivated, versatile and willing to learn
Must be a team player and be able to work on multiple assignments concurrently.
