Located in Edmonton, the AGS has over 50 geologists, engineers, technologists and science specialists who map the geology of Alberta, describe its earth resources, and provide advice on geological hazards. At AGS, individuals have the opportunity to work on challenging projects of major importance to Albertans in the energy and minerals sectors, work with advanced technology on a daily basis, stay current in their fields while making significant contributions to their communities of practice, and work outdoors in both nearby and remote parts of Alberta.

The incumbent will work with project team members to estimate and quantify the water balance for each flow system and major aquifer, as well as create a resource classification scheme for groundwater resources.
The incumbent will create high-quality knowledge products (reports, maps, databases) that allow well owners, operators, consultants, regulators, etc. to estimate groundwater resource quantity and quality in any area. Other activities will include field mapping, drilling and installation of monitoring wells, as well as groundwater sampling and analysis. The incumbent will also be involved in analyzing well-test information and designing of groundwater flow models and directly conducting simulations and/or working with consultants to understand and predict changes to Alberta’s groundwater under development scenarios.
