Responsibilities:
To take responsibility for air quality sub-team management, business development, project and programme management, staff development and technical leadership for the Company's air quality business from our Brighton office.
Report to Brighton Energy Environment team manager who reports to Sub-divisional Manager.
Develop air quality assessment skills within the existing team.
Develop and implement Air Quality Sub-Team Business Plan.
Air quality impact assessments for large range of different sectors including industrial, buildings and transportation projects;
Air quality monitoring programmes (both passive and continuous);
Odour assessment;
Pollution Prevention and Control (PPC) permit applications and support;
Specialist services for energy clients (e.g. emissions modelling, CO2 assessment and carbon footprinting);
Project management;
Proposal preparation;
Sub-team management and staff development;
There will be an on-going requirement to be involved with and liaise with other TMU environment teams to co-ordinate all air quality inputs across Mott MacDonald’s full portfolio of environmental projects.
Requirements:
Good first degree in hard science.
Relevant second degree
Extensive relevant postgraduate experience, including in the air quality field, in environmental consultancy, and in team leadership
Desired academic, professional qualifications and experience:
Chartered Engineer / Environmentalist
UK and international experience.
Technical Leadership;
High standards of written and oral communication and IT skills;
Demonstrable experience in undertaking and managing wide range of air quality related projects;
Programme Management;
Strong project management skills;
Able to run several work streams simultaneously;
Understands project financial management;
Communications and Teamwork;
Fosters staff development through support;
Able to prepare and make presentations to a variety of audiences;
Business Development and Customer Focus;
A demonstrable track record in environmental business development
Strong client relationship building skills;
Good understanding of legislation and policy;
Personal Effectiveness;
Excellent interpersonal skills;
Organised, able to work on own initiative;
Able to keep technical lead through own initiative;
Driving licence and willingness to travel, both nationally and internationally.

Experience of EIA / due diligence in several sectors;
