Responsibilities:
Technical and specialist advice on all aspects relating to Information Technology (IT) in the Drilling Department.
Responsible for all data management and associated requirements in the Drilling Department.
Custodian of and responsible for the effective utilization of the Drilling Information Management System (DIMS).
Responsible for the successful migration of DIMS database to OpenWells.
Provides technical support and training to introduce and implement the Landmark Drilling Engineering software package.
Responsible for teaching and supporting Senior Drilling Engineers / Operations Engineers / Drilling Specialists with their Data and Engineering Software requirements. Responsible for QA/QC issues arising from data received from drilling operations.
Coordinates presentation material for conferences, management meetings and ad-hoc presentations as required.
Requirements:
Engineering Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Computer Programmer Diploma.
Fluent in written and spoken English Language.
8 years experience in a Drilling/Operation Engineer position.
3 years experience with Drilling Database and Well Planning software.
Specific knowledge of DIMS/Landmark systems.
Strong analytical skills.
Strong communication skills (e.g. presentations/conducting meetings/teaching).
Excellent computer literacy.
Profound knowledge of drilling engineering software packages.
Is self motivating and able to work independently with the ability to coach and motivate others and is a team player.
The incumbent has a comprehensive background in drilling operations and related activities obtained through experience as a Drilling/Operations Engineer and has strong IT skills.
Is also capable of training Drilling Staff in the use of DIMS and DWPS applications.
Has good knowledge of Landmark's Drilling Engineering software package comprising of Compass, Wellplan, Casingseat and Stresscheck.
