Overview
 
The Procurement Specialist - Catalysts, Chemicals and Logistics is responsible for local implementation of broader market sector strategies, as well as the execution of local projects and the negotiation and execution of procurement transactions within the defined commodity areas. The incumbent will ensure that procurement activities and materials accord with client technical, delivery and commercial requirements, applicable contract law and BP philosophies, policies, guidelines, strategic objectives and financial controls.
 
Job Description
 
  • Apply knowledge of demand/spend profile for assigned commodities including catalysts, process chemicals, Chemical Managed Services (CMS), specialty chemicals, lubricants.
  • Support implementation of market sector strategies and group agreements at the site, and in consultation with the market sector, lead the development and implementation of local contracting strategies.
  • Establish effective relationships with business stakeholders and ensure connectivity between the business, the sector strategy and the supply base.
  • Negotiate, prepare, execute and administer general and project specific service contracts and purchase orders.
  • Conduct market analysis, price and cost modeling activities.
  • Identify, select, review and certify vendors.
  • Maintain familiarity with vendor capabilities and market drivers.
  • Develop, solicit, evaluate and condition competitive quotations.
  • Apply knowledge of commercial contract law and BP guidelines, practices and requirements to assess, plan and negotiate best terms and conditions.
  • Apply knowledge of plant and work processes to maximize value delivery to the client and business unit.
  • Review contractor and subcontractor procedures and practices to identify opportunities for cost and schedule improvements.
  • Perform supplier performance management and measurement activities for the local suppliers and provide input for the collective suppliers.
  • Resolve issues (e.g. pricing, quality, timing, claims, liens, etc.) associated with purchase agreements and deliverables.
  • Maintain current accurate records and files of all purchase agreements (i.e. vendor reviews, terms and conditions, warranties and liabilities etc.)
 
Required Qualifications:
To be considered for the role of Procurement Specialist  - Catalysts, Chemicals and Logistics applicants must have:
 
  • Legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree.
  • The willingness and ability to travel up to 10% of the time, in order to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.
  • A minimum of 3 years of commercial experience with regard to projects, operations or maintenance, and/or procurement experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years of operations or operations support experience in a refinery, chemical plant or exploration/production facility.
  • Strong skills with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
