Overview
The successful candidate will perform a variety of general accounting duties relating to corporate assets and derivatives, such as debt issues, interest rate swaps, foreign currency contracts, allocations, wire clearings, guarantees, and lease commitments. As a member of the Corporate Accounting Services and Derivatives team the successful candidate will be exposed to a variety of topics including SFAS 133 (Accounting for Derivative Instruments), SFAS 69 (Disclosures about Oil and Gas Producing Activities), FIN 45 (Accounting for Guarantees), and other general corporate accounting activities.
Job Description
- Actively assist in month end close (i.e. accrual analysis, reclassification adjustments, journal entries, allocations, etc.).
- Conduct various monthly, quarterly and annual financial analysis of the key balance sheet and P&L accounts.
- Perform accounting for various types of corporate and upstream derivatives, including commodity, interest rate, and foreign currency related contracts.
- Analyze and review daily settlement with counterparties and brokers prior to approval for payment by management.
- Prepare various monthly or quarterly G/L balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Must be analytical and knowledgeable in accounting procedures and practices and be capable of working independently with general supervision from the manager of corporate accounting services and derivatives.
- Strive to continuously improve processes and reporting in accounting areas.
- Complete other ad-hoc projects and analyses as necessary.
- Other shared responsibilities within the group could include competitor analysis, capitalized interest, financial statement reserve reporting, allocations, SG&A analysis, debt, corporate accruals and separate entity financial statements.
- This position requires the ability to multi-task and adapt to shifting priorities for completion of the above tasks.
