Job Description
- Technical expert in one or more highly specialized areas of applications systems analysis and, programming and application support.
- Application development analyst will perform the entire development life cycle including gather and evaluate information concerning a user’s conceptual needs, estimate and schedule project activities, coordinate and participate in analysis/design/coding activities, ensure that system changes are fully tested, perform monitoring and quality assurance functions and coordinate implementation of the changes.
- The position will also manage small projects as needed.
- Works with IT peers on the team and with business users
- Formulates and defines system scope and objectives
- Devises or modifies procedures to solve problems related to applications, troubleshoot, performance
- Prepares detailed specifications from which programs will be written
- Responsible for program design, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation
- May be responsible for multiple phases of a project
- May have duties instructing, directing, and checking the work of the other applications systems analysis and programming personnel
- Documents changes and updates specifications, system documentation, and user instructions.
- May have quality assurance review responsibilities
Qualifications
- Work with all levels of personnel in the IS organization
- Work with all levels of management within the corporation
- Work with users of a software application internal to the corporation
- Work with external software vendors, consultants, or similar skilled individuals
- Has full technical knowledge of all phases of applications systems analysis and programming
- 2 to 4 years experience in disciplines including, but not limited to, software, hardware, project management, system design and implementation
- Consistently demonstrated good communication skills, both verbal and written
- Consistently demonstrated good analytical & problem solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure and multi-task
Required Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems, or related field
- 3+ years experience in Java software development
- 3 years experience with object oriented programming and relational databases
- 3 years experience in web application development
- 3 - 5 years experience in application support and development
- Knowledge of project management processes is desired •Knowledge of the regulated utility or energy related business is desired
- Knowledge of OSISoft PI suite and Teledyne environmental monitoring systems desired
