Responsibilities:
To assume technical responsibility under supervision of the Senior Hardware Engineer for the procurement and design of Hardware to be used within a control system product.
The jobholder will be responsible for the technical solution, quality of design and implementation of the design and will ensure that work is performed within agreed budgets and timescales.
The jobholder will ensure that the purchasing of bought in items for a hardware product happens in a timely manner.
The jobholder will also ensure that the work is performed in accordance with company procedures and the requirements of ISO9001-2000 standards.
The development, test and maintenance of hardware work within the Product Development, Project Development or Project Support Groups.
Ensuring that any work carried out by self is performed within schedule and budget constraints and that company quality systems are adhered to.
Developing subordinate engineers to improve quality awareness and experience of systems in use within the company.
Assisting Senior Hardware Engineer – DSS with development/improvement of quality procedures.
Identifying processes and patterns within work areas and recommending procedures to improve standardisation and consistency of approach to Senior Hardware Engineer - DSS.
Monitoring areas of work allocated to self and reporting current status, estimates, to complete and resource requirements to Work Package Manager and Senior Hardware Engineer.
Monitoring trends and new products in the marketplace which could benefit the company and recommending to Senior Hardware Engineer - DSS.
Assist Senior Hardware Engineer and Work Package Manager - DSS with estimates of effort and best technical solution at bid stage.
Requirements:
Degree/HND/HNC qualified in relevant discipline, generally electronics related.
Ability to communicate with engineers at all levels.
Knowledge of Real-Time control systems.
Knowledge of PLC/SCADA control systems.
Knowledge of SAP preferred
Knowledge and experience of AutoCAD
System design experience.
Knowledge of communication protocols.
Knowledge of Windows Operating Systems.
Experience in working to ISO9001 quality standards.
Client interface experience.
Experience in all aspects of project lifecycle from start-up to completion.
IT desktop package experience such as word processors, spreadsheets, databases.
