Job Description
[Company] features a wide range of products and services for applications in various industries including oil and gas, petrochemical and power generation. As an industry leader in custom steel fabrication, [Company] features some of the largest steel forming capacities available for use in the production of pressure vessel components.
We are searching for an energetic, self-motivated individual looking to begin an exciting and challenging career for an industry leader. A position is available for Shop Safety Officer to work in a positive, high energy environment. This person would be expected to lead by example and “talk the talk, and walk the walk”.
Qualifications
· An OH&S Certificate from the U of A or another university an asset
· Manufacturing Safety Officer (MSO) designation from the Manufacturing Health & Safety Association (MHSA) or Construction Safety Officer (CSO) designation from the Alberta Construction Safety Association (ACSA) an asset
· Knowledge of safety management systems
· Computer proficiency
· Experience with implementation and on-going management of safety programs in an industrial environment
· Experience in handling heavy steel components an asset
· A trade ticket, preferably a Journeyman Boilermaker an asset
Responsibilities
· Responsible for managing “Tool Box” meetings
· Supervision of light duty work employees
· WCB administration
· Coordination and direction of shop safety orientations
· Development and assessment of safety training and information programs for employees
· Evaluation and assessment of safety processes
