[Company] Oil Sands & Mining business unit currently has an exciting opportunity available for a Lead Structural Engineer in our Saskatoon office. Reporting to the Manager, Civil/Structural Engineering and working alongside other team members locally, you will have the opportunity to provide lead support on one of our major projects.  If you have a successful track record and thrive on challenges in a fast pace environment, this opportunity is for you.
 
Responsibilities:
·         Acting as Structural Lead and technical professional resource for the successful competition of multiple challenging projects.
·         Designing heavy industrial structures related to mining and mineral processing; covering structures such as mill processing buildings, conveyor galleries, loadout facilities, storage facilities, bins and tanks.
·         Writing specifications and contract documents as well as reviewing project documents prior to issue for scope and presentation, including checking for technical accuracy.
·         Assisting in manpower planning and providing estimates for engineering schedules as required by the projects.
·         Supporting continuous development of cost estimates as well as schedules for projects and studies.
·         Ensuring own individual and team output of resources is completed on time, on budget, and exceeding quality standards.
·         Mentoring and training of junior AMEC personnel to groom individuals as well as whole teams to become more prepared to take on additional roles and responsibilities.
·         Developing and maintaining positive communication channels with clients and internal AMEC personnel to ensure that work flows smoothly as well as providing first class engineering services.
·         Efficiently and effectively managing multiple tasks independently and in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
 
Qualifications:
·         Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or higher specializing in structural design.
·         Professional Affiliation (P.Eng) in the Province of Saskatchewan or eligible to register with the Association of Professional Engineers & Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS).
·         Permission to consult in the province of Saskatchewan or eligible to register with APEGS.
·         Minimum 15 years' of structural engineering experience in operations and engineering roles of increasing responsibility on mining and/or heavy industrial projects or related design experience.
·         Broad knowledge of general structural and architectural designs and an understanding of industry codes, standards, and construction methods.
·         Excellence in leadership and mentoring abilities through proven employment experience.
·         General working knowledge of structural analysis software (STAAD Pro and SAP) and drafting software (AutoCAD and MicroStation) an asset.
 
Saskatoon, located in Central Saskatchewan, is an affordable family-oriented community of approximately 210,000 people which offers excellent education and health care facilities as well as a variety of summer and winter activities. Saskatoon is situated on the banks of the South Saskatchewan River which is crossed by seven bridges within the city limits. The city is 480 meters above sea level and covers an area of 144 sq. kilometers including over 120 hectares of riverbank parklands. Saskatoon is one of the sunniest cities in Canada, receiving an average of 2,381 hours annually.
 
With 300 staff, the Saskatoon Mining & Metals office has served the Saskatchewan market for over 40 years. The Saskatoon office is a regional center for the mining, mineral processing, chemical plants, forestry, power and oil/gas industries. It specializes in both domestic and international potash and uranium projects.
