Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; MBA is a plus.
CPA required.
5 plus years of financial accounting experience with large public accounting firm and/or corporate/industrial experience – SEC experience preferred
Demonstrates ability to work independently and to solve non-recurring problems. Demonstrates some degree of leadership ability. Demonstrates ability to effectively communicate information to appropriate parties.
Shows evidence of good organization and project planning skills.
Job Description
Assist with the planning, preparation and issuance of SEC financial filing requirements (10K, 10Q, 8K)
Prepare and/or review quarterly workpapers needed for SEC financial filings
Assist with pension and post-retirement plan accounting and annual audit/financial statements
Analyze new accounting pronouncements (issued by FASB, AICPA, SEC, EITF)
Assist in writing new and updating existing Financial Standards (accounting policies and procedures)
Review Financial Statements prepared by Consolidations department; identify and resolve related issues and perform financial analysis of Company results
Monitor consistency of financial data in all externally reported information
Compare and contrast financial disclosures of the company with those of other SEC registrants
Assist with Sarbanes-Oxley Sec 404 compliance regarding internal controls over financial reporting
Assist in the review of quarterly earnings press releases, attachments and conference call scripts
Assist with the legal contingency review (4 times per year)
Coordinate internal representation letters from operations (quarterly basis)
Assist in the preparation of the annual Back-Up- Book
Assist in the preparation of financial sections of annual Proxy Statement
Perform impairment testing for goodwill and other assets
Work on special projects as opportunities present themselves
