Overview:

The person who is selected for this position would become an integral part of the South Wapiti Operations Team. The South Wapiti area consists of the South Wapiti Gas Plant, approximatly 35,000hp of field compression at 30 sites and 240 wells, which are operated, by Bp Canada Energy and its partners.
The successful candidate would be required to relocate to Grande Prairie, Alberta. Transportation to and from the plant located 70 kilometers away is supplied. South Wapiti operations work a 10 hour shift eight on six off schedule with operators on call after work hours.
Grande Prairie is a growing city of 42,600 people located five hours north of Edmonton, AB. The city has excellent commercial air and ground transportation and post secondary education for both trade and university transfer programs. Health care services are provided by a state of the art hospital, which includes a MRI. Grande Prairie has become a regional trading center for northwestern Alberta and has a trading area of over 200,000 people. Activities in the area include hunting, fishing, camping and curling. As well, Grande Prairie has an indoor swimming pool, multiple ice arenas, golf courses as well as a Nordic and downhill ski area.
Job Dimensions:
As a member of the South Wapiti team you will be responsible for the safe, efficient day to day operation of the field wells, gathering and compression sites. You will posses a strong commitment to health, safety and the environment as well as an understanding of maintenance management systems (maximo) and the desire to support the implementation of total quality maintenance.
The main duties will include:
- Safe start-up, shutdown and monitoring of field well sites and compressors.
- Safe isolation of equipment for maintenance
- Level 1 maintenance
- Assist in procedure development and ISO 14001 implementation
- Coverage for vacation relief/training of field operations on a designated 8/6 work schedule
Accountabilities:
- Be an active participant in the HSSE programs at the sites.
- Interact with Engineering to assist in keeping the facility mechanically sound through routine inspection.
- Know all potential safety hazards and ensure that all personnel in his area adhere to established safety and site specific procedures.
- Understand all control procedures for environmental aspects for which they are responsible
- Work with team to assist in group goals and objectives.
Experience:
- Previous Oil and Gas experience would be beneficial.
- A holder of a 5th Class Certification or higher with Operating in a chemical or industrial environment is a plus.
- Education:
- Grade 12 High School Diploma
- 5th Class certification or higher would be a benefit.
