Description
Located in Calgary, Alberta and reporting to the Supervisor of Exploration Services. The successful candidate for this position will be required to provide all levels of petrophysical support in active drilling areas of Western Canada Gas and Oil Sands Teams.
 
Responsibilities
  • Plan, supervise, coordinate and control the collection of Petrophysical data for well and reservoir studies. The candidate will provide significant off-hour support for all the Company’s primary evaluations and data QC.
  • Play an active role on logging suite selection based on asset teams needs; design Wireline jobs for optimum data acquisition, cost and maximum safety.
  • Play an active role in Open Hole Wireline contractor management.
  • Provide additional analysis and evaluation support to asset teams and help with new technology implementation, evaluation and planning as necessary.
 
Note: Preference will be given to local candidates.
 
Qualifications
Basic/Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of industry experience required with a good understanding of Formation Evaluation.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Geosciences or Engineering.
  • Good understanding of Wireline operations, interaction with disciplines such as Geology, Geophysics, Drilling and Completions, Reservoir engineering.
  • Good understanding of fundamentals of Petrophysical measurements.
  • Must have good communications skills and able to interact with other teams.
  • Minimum interpretation skills; deterministic interpretation.
  • Must have strong knowledge of common office Software (i.e. Microsoft Office or similar).
  • Must be legally permitted to work in Canada on a regular full-time basis without restrictions.
 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ten or more years of industry experience is preferred with at least 7 years experience in dealing with Formation Evaluation.
  • Previous experience with Geolog software would be an asset.
  • Contract management and negotiation skills are preferred.
  • Experience in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin.
