Responsibilities:
Perform audits of subcontractors and communicate materials related requirements; prepare written and verbal assessments of subcontractors.
Plan, conduct, track and report multiple concurrent materials engineering investigations.
Analyze engineering designs for material requirements; recommend and specify materials for specific design and field applications.
Prepare investigative reports.
Communicate on materials engineering issues inside and outside our company.
Prepare materials and process specifications.
Perform administrative tasks regarding Specification System.
Perform failure analyses.
Assist with manufacturing operations - welding, coating and heat treat operations.
Assess field conditions and make corrosivity assessments.
Prepare materials engineering training and education courses and deliver same and/or customer employees.
Travel to vendor and locations to provide audits, training and onsite materials engineering ssistance.
Work and cooperate with Engineering, Office, Vendor, Customer, Laboratory, and Shop personnel.
Provide internal materials engineering consulting services.
Know and understand Quality Policy and comply with all requirements of the Quality Systems Manual, Operating and Technical Procedures and Workplace Instructions.
Must understand and comply with all safety rules and company policies of our company.
Work assignments carried out to the highest quality level.
Perform various other duties and activities as assigned by manager within the physical constraints of the job.
Requirements:
Proficient in use of computer work processor and spreadsheet software.
Ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing through memos, specifications and engineering reports.
Understanding of mechanical and structural components as it relates to materials engineering assessments and recommendations.
Must be able to work well with others in a team setting.
Must be able to effectively handle many concurrent projects
Proficient in related engineering discipline such as welding engineering or corrosion engineering.
Knowledge or experience in the Oil and Gas Industry.
Knowledge of quality systems.
Foundry, Steel Mill or Forging experience.
B.S in Metallurgy, Metallurgical Engineering or Materials Engineering.
2 – 5 years experience in metallurgical or materials engineering.
Licensed Professional Engineer or Chartered Engineer status.
The physical ability to immediately respond to emergency situations.
This position requires diplomacy.
Ability to travel.
Multiple language ability.
