Job Description:

 
This position is an entry level purchasing representative role. The initial intent of the position would be to rotate into each of the functional purchasing areas for a 6 to 8 month period gaining valuable experience in each area.  The purchasing areas that this individual would be primarily exposed to during the training period would be Finding & Development purchasing (Drilling & Completions), Operations/ corporate purchasing and Contracts & Project Procurement.
 
Additional field experience opportunities will also be coordinated during the 18 to 24 month training period.  At the conclusion of the formal training period this individual would settle into a permanent role in one of the purchasing areas as business need dictates.
 
As a member of the Materials & Services Management Team, your responsibilities will include but not limited to:
  • Providing procurement knowledge combined with excellent communication and organizational skills for procurement activities on Oil & Gas projects supporting the Operations & Project Purchasing Group.
  • Participating in the implementation of Husky’s Purchasing Practices utilizing generally accepted procedures and commercial practice.
  • Forming contract documents in accordance with Husky Corporate standards, the objective being to adhere to all terms and conditions and being the commercial liaison with Legal, Risk Management, and Health & Safety, engineering and operations personnel and specific Business Unit representatives. This responsibility will include the management of all 3rd party contracts.
  • Participate in negotiating commercial and legal terms as well as negotiating claims and mediating contract disputes.
  • Providing coordination and liaison for Materials & Services Management functions, such as materials management systems, logistics, expediting, inventory management, capital spares consideration, and warehousing issues.
  • Working directly with Business unit personnel to assist in developing procurement strategies for goods and services utilized by the various Husky departments
Qualifications
 
The successful candidate should have:
  • Business/Technical Diploma or related Degree.
  • Strong business acumen with a willingness to learn
  • Some knowledge in purchasing, materials management systems and inventory management would be an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office applications.
  • Excellent planning, organizing and negotiating skills. Strong analytical skills.
  • Experience with computerized Materials Management systems (SAP – MM) would be a definite asset.
