Job Description:
[Company] has a Co-op/Internship position available for an 8 month term starting September 2008. This position is located in our Calgary office in the Heavy Oil and Gas Business Unit. We are looking for an individual interested in an opportunity to work on a fluid movement optimization plan for the Trucking department. You will assist engineers in system designs for the automated field data capture projects, analyze production data and write reports for the projects.
Responsibilities may include:
- Production data gathering from different systems, e.g. field data capture, single well monitoring system, government well information
- Design and implement new business processes for fluid trucking dispatch
- Monitor the performance of new business processes
- Develop computer application prototypes using Microsoft Excel and/or C# programming language
- Evaluate production performance of the heavy oil wells
- Determine the economic limit of the low productivity wells
- Forecast future production based on historical performance
Qualifications
We are looking for:
- Third year engineering, physical science majors or computer science (ie: physics or chemistry)
- Experience working with and analyzing computer data
- Experience working with business processes in an office setting would be an asset
- Experience working in the petroleum industry would be an asset
- Strong analytical, problem solving, initiative, self-motivation, communication and interpersonal skills
- A demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to manage and prioritize a variety of tasks and meet deadlines
- Preference will be given to candidates with practical field-related experience
- Strong Windows desk top applications - MS Word and MS Excel
- Optional database experience of MS Access, MS SQL and Oracle would be an asset
