Job Description:
As a member of the Downstream Systems team, you will be responsible for analytical and development support for the suite of applications that support the corporate office functions of the Refined Products business. You will provide critical day to day support of the problem resolution, technical support, application enhancements and application upgrades.
This is an exceptional opportunity to build upon your expertise by assuming the following responsibilities:
- Developing a strong understanding of the applications that support the Refined Products business which include Structured Management System (SMS), ZyTax, Formscape, Downstream Web Portal, Data Transmission Network (DTN), EDI and the data relationships and interfaces between these and other applications
- Providing strong analytical expertise in working with clients to develop strategic solutions to meet business goals and objectives
- Providing technical day to day application support
- Developing and implementing application enhancements
- Planning and implementing system upgrades
- Ensuring thorough and comprehensive testing and QA practices are followed
- Working with other team members to develop, implement and execute application life cycle plans and service level agreements
- Working effectively with other Downstream team members and IT infrastructure teams to maintain a reliable environment
- Working effectively with business clients to provide support services required to meet current and future business needs
- Managing change according to IT standards to ensure reliable operations
- Participating in various projects as well as IT objectives and initiatives
Qualifications
Our ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
- A degree or diploma in an Information Technology related program
- Minimum 10 years' experience in applications development or in an application support role
- A good working knowledge of the Progress database and development environment
- A working knowledge of Linux/Unix Microsoft operating systems
- Knowledge of the Refined Products business
- Knowledge of SQL and related DBMS (SQL Server and Oracle)
- Knowledge of development environments such as Perl, .Net and Java
- Broad based knowledge of IT concepts and and understanding of modern development and test methods
- Skilled at anticipating, assessing, and responding effectively to the needs of diverse clients, making excellent customer service a top priority.
- Strong interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills to effectively interact with a variety of personnel.
- Proven ability to work in a team environment dealing with people from various disciplines to achieve goals, and to identify and resolve problems.
- An understanding of change management principles and application.
- Capable of learning, assimilating and applying new technologies and other job-related information in a timely manner.
