Our Client is the Canadian division of an international risk management company. They are an authority in providing risk assessment services, HSE management systems expertise and safety/technical inspection services focused on the oil and gas industry.
To meet growing business needs, they are seeking the right person to join their Calgary-based team as a Principal Risk Consultant. In this role the successful candidate is expected to contribute their industry knowledge and expertise to develop Risk Management activities and assist in the development and professional delivery of a range of Risk Management and Safety Engineering Services.
Job Description:
· Contribute to the risk management services and safety engineering services.
· Deliver RMS and SES to customers in accordance with agreed terms of reference and in accordance with the Client's management system.
· Lead major client projects; direct other consultants.
· Train consultants in risk management tools & techniques
· Participate in reviews of RMS and SES project deliverables
· Carry out internal development projects as agreed with the General Manager
· Negotiate with clients regarding their requirements, budget etc. Attend meetings as required.
· Maintain/enhance client relationships
· Provide demonstrations of Client software and techniques
· Manage projects and supervise less experienced staff together with budget monitoring
· Assist with end of month client billing as required.
· Assist where qualified to do so with internal training of company personnel.
· Assist with human resources management and project planning as required.
· Write reports and associated documents for risk management and safety studies as required.
· Contribute to research and development programs as required.
· Participate in management decision-making as required. Initiate and assist with further development and growth of the company.
· Be willing to carry out other duties as requested.
· Optimize the utilization of time on external projects
Required Skills:
The successful candidate must have a background in engineering (10 - 15 years minimum as a chemical, mechanical or process engineer) possess initiative, demonstrate dedication, and be able to work in a team environment. They must be able to work autonomously, show initiative and be willing to be trained in a variety of software packages.
· Candidates must possess, be working towards or be eligible for P.Eng. Designation.
· Knowledge and understanding of Risk Management Tools and Techniques
· Knowledge of legal requirements affecting the business unit and services delivered.
· Ability to deliver and facilitate effective presentations to clients and at conferences
· Skilled at facilitating technical meetings of subject matter experts e.g. HAZOP, HAZID, QRA, HSSE Case
· A proven willingness to accept instruction and an aptitude to learn Risk Assessment techniques
· Strong verbal and written English-language skills
· Good organizational and planning skills.
· Willingness and ability to travel within Canada and internationally
