Shell Canada is currently seeking a Senior Project / Project Construction Engineer.
 
Responsibilities :
·         Participate in the coordination of the day-to-day activities of an integrated owner/engineering contractor project execution team for an assigned process unit or area.
·         The Project Engineer will be responsible to ensure it meets the business objectives stated in the Project Charter, the Project Implementation Plan and Basic Design and Engineering Package.
·         Ensure that the project activities undertaken are prepared to the project quality and schedule requirements and are effectively coordinated and integrated into the total project detailed deliverables as identified in the PIP, PEP, BDEP and EPCM contract
·         Execution of engineering activities throughout the Implementation phase of the project
·         Primary contact between engineering and construction, procurement and the Contractor ensures consistency and control over the technical scope of the project
·         Coordinate with the Owner’s Process Engineers, Discipline Engineers, Construction Engineers and Shell specialists to bring a coordinated approach to the overall project scope to meet schedule and quality expectations.
·         Executes the risk awareness and mitigation planning in the assigned process area. Updates the risk register tool and advises on impacts to business premises and project strategies and plans as conditions merit
·         Assures that Shell and contractors provide appropriate risk assessment vs. economics benefit for innovative ideas
·         Develop a relationship with contractors/Shell such that they feel free to bring innovative ideas forward for consideration
·         Ensure that contractor meets agreed upon safety and other project performance requirements as outlined in the EPCM agreement related to Engineering and Procurement Services
 
Requirements :
·         Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
·         Professional qualifications: a degree in Engineering (at least BSc or equivalent). 
·         An equivalent of 15 years experience in the mining /  Oil and Gas industry of which at least 10 years field experience in construction, specifically with modularization experience, but also in other disciplines.
·         Additional professional training in:
·         Construction Management of large (reimbursable Contract) type projects with high modularization component
·         Discipline Engineering Management
·         Project Engineering and Management of large projects
·         Safety in Workplace
·         Quality Management
·         Computer Skills (Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Planning and databases).
·         Complete familiarity with international codes and standards in the Oil and Gas Industry.
·         Key Competencies:
·         Construction Management of Major Projects  
·         Mechanical, structural or other discipline field construction engineering      
·         Field engineering / Project Controls                         
·         Team Leadership       
·         Contractor/Client communications skills
·         Quality management  
·         Effective implementation of project execution and implementation plans and work front planning towards predicable activity execution.
·         Interface management with fabrication contractors and at site with the various construction sub-contracts to ensure timely, quality results in a safe and productive work environment.
