Position Summary:
 
·         We seek qualified Intermediate - Senior Hydrologists to work in the areas of dam engineering, hydraulics, hydrology and water resource management.
·         May act in either a Project Manager or Specialist Engineer/Hydrologist capacity. Carries out responsible and varied assignments requiring a knowledge of both a broad field of hydrology and water resources and of reciprocal effects of the work upon other fields.
·         Problems usually resolved by use of a combination of standard procedures, modifications to standard procedures, or methods developed in previous assignments.
·         Participates in planning to achieve prescribed objectives. Make independent studies, analyses, interpretations and conclusions. Analyze problems, organize investigations and produce reports. Interprets and evaluates data obtained from various hydrological, engineering and/or research investigations and keeps well informed of the latest technological developments relating to specialty.
·         Develop, approve and coordinate work schedules to ensure that objectives of cost, quality and time are met. Develop and recommend improvements in design standards to lower costs and improve work quality.
·         Discuss projects with colleagues to determine relative priorities and implications of work of others. Make commitments on acceptance of projects, completion dates, resources and staff required to meet objectives. Required to have knowledge of related fields of engineering, and provide support on marketing programs.
·         Project work may involve travel in Australia as well as opportunities to work internationally.
·         Initiative, enthusiasm and commitment to technical excellence are all important qualities for our team members.
 
Qualifications:

The Candidate will have skills in the following:

  • A Bachelors degree in a related Hydrology or Civil/Environmental Engineering field required; a Masters degree is an asset
  • An understanding of project management, and competent report writing, good oral and English written communication skills
  • Proficiency with hydrology and hydraulic modelling programs
  • Site investigations experience, planning and implementation
  • Knowledge of mining environments and mine related water issues
  • Experience in hydrological and hydraulic modelling and design, dam engineering or environmental engineering is also required
  • Minimum 5 years relevant work experience
  • Previous experience and knowledge in the Water Resources or Mining sectors, including if possible legislative frameworks
  • A background of working on large-scale multi-disciplinary projects
  • Excellent English skills (oral and written). Spanish an asset
  • Willing and able to travel both domestically and internationally
  • Eligible to register as a professional engineer in the country of residence
