Accountabilities:
- Ensure compliance and training to required procedures
- Recommend corrective actions and maintain records to ensure compliance with WHMIS regulations and internal policies and procedures
Responsibilities:
- Develop and support safety strategies, plans policies, practices and procedures for on-site construction
- Conduct work area surveillance inspections, air sampling test, employee contractor safety programs, etc
- Accompany safety, health and insurance inspectors on walk-through tours
- Document all accidents, safety violations, unsafe conditions, etc
Education/Work Experience:
- Related post-secondary education or equivalent experience related to workplace safety
- In possession of Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or Construction Safety Coordinator (CSO) designation
- Minimum three years experience related to industry safety
- Industrial construction and/or mining industry experience preferred
- Broad understanding of construction safety standards and practices
- Maintain current knowledge of all applicable current and proposed legislative requirements including federal, provincial legislation and trends in occupational safety and health
- Ability to provide expert resources relating to the investigation of emergency situations, assist in the investigation and review of all accident/incident reports and assist in recommending corrective action to eliminate recurrences and ensuring appropriate external and internal dissemination of reports to authorities, senior management and OH &S Committee
