Overview
This position will provide independent analytical support to senior sales and general management in terms of developing, analyzing, and reporting on projects, pricing, competitive information, and other management information, including assessment and recommendations. This individual will support the short and long-term forecasting process and data collection as well as assisting in the development of annual business and product line plans, and monitoring progress towards the plan. In addition, this position will create, review and revise key sales and marketing processes, systems, and work instructions. The analyst will assist sales and other departments with projects and management information reporting; provide support to sales personnel for sales material, presentations, proposals, and other related materials, and all other ad hoc projects for sales or management that may be assigned.
Qualifications
- BA or BS in business administration, marketing, procurement, operations, finance or related field or equivalent work experience. MBA optimal but not required.
- Three to five years required experience in either business administration, sales & marketing, procurement, operations or finance.
- Excellent MS Office skills, database and or advanced Excel skills a plus
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) & ability to work independently with initiative; Must possess strong negotiation, communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
- Must have a good understanding of sales & marketing processes, thorough knowledge of organizational structure and inter relationships between functions and commercial issues.
- Must possess the ability to work commercial issues in a cross-functional role and be able to facilitate interaction between project management, sales, finance, engineering, and operations
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities in a fast paced environment.
- Ability to work independently under general guidance and or with self-initiative
- PC skills including spreadsheet, word processing, relational database, project management software and SAP or similar mainframe experience.
Job Description
- Creates and or maintains competitive intelligence and pricing database or other system; controls consistent source of information for management; provides assessment of competitors
- Lead cross functional and interdepartmental teams to create and improve key processes and systems that affect sales and marketing; Create and maintain work instructions and documentation on sales processes
- Conduct investigation and analysis for department directors and managers to understand key business issues and provide critical information for planning
- Develop and conduct customer studies to assist in the development of Sales strategy
- Coordinate the development of business plans and product line plans
- Coordinate and maintain the STAT-RG Sales process
- Maintain Siebel data for 5 Yr sales forecast / interface with other departments to provide required forecast data for planning purposes.
- Develop and maintain historical proposal and pricing information; maintain knowledge of pricing and general knowledge of factors affecting pricing
- Provide price and revenue analysis as requested or determined; review and evaluate in conjunction with Project Managers and Product Leads, establish variances between bid and final costs on completed projects. Determine root cause of variances and report to project team and management. Maintain reports and data in retrievable files to be used when preparing future quotes.
- Manage the procurement of 3rd party market research data and maintain a data archive
- Analyze research data from outside sources, formulate trends and prepare findings to sales management as required; investigate market opportunities as requested
- Track market trends / relevant industry news and communicate key information to Sales team and management.
- Investigate and explore future applications of technology to sales and marketing operations
- Prepare monthly and quarterly sales reports
- Period end reporting for sales and management as requested
- Participates and provides planning recommendations at sales-operations meetings
- Assist with preparation of annual sales and marketing budget.
- Assist with coordination of regular Sales Dept. meetings.
