Overview
Technology Services is seeking an experienced geophysicist for seismic survey and borehole geophysics acquisition assignments as well seismic processing projects involving both direct application of in-house technology and supervision of contracted projects. The position reports for project direction to Chuck Meeder, Geoscience Consultant. The successful applicant will interface with operating groups, other technical support personnel and vendors to provide seismic processing solutions which meet organizational goals and commitments.
Good communication skills, the ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams and a proven track record in successful seismic acquisition and processing must be demonstrated. The successful candidate will be expected to travel to crew sites including international locations.
UNIX/Linux operating systems, Landmark Promax system, principal industry contractor processing systems. Acoustic and elastic seismic modeling software, seismic survey design tools.
Minimum 10 years industry experience including seismic acquisition design, modeling, contractual procedures, supervision of acquisition, land surveying, marine navigation, seismic processing, borehole geophysics acquisition and VSP processing.
Job Description
- Provide technical service to operating groups in carrying out requested technical service projects, reports and evaluations that relate to seismic and VSP acquisition and processing.
- Advise operating groups on feasibility of seismic and VSP acquisition and processing projects. Plan and execute those approved projects.
- Review all contractual documents associated with seismic acquisition programs and provide critical direction on contractor selection.
- Direct contract personnel as appropriate and as required by contract to achieve project goals. Mentor junior personnel and aid technology transfer to operating groups through participation in team projects.
- Stay abreast of all developments in processing and imaging. Seek new and innovative solutions and implement and apply them as appropriate.
