Responsibilities:
Senior Engineer to provide competitive proposal designs for combustion equipment and burner/furnace arrangements for the firing of coal, oil & gaseous fuels in utility boilers and provide anticipated NOx & combustion efficiency performance figures for guarantee purposes.
Provide a design and advice service internally and externally on the subject to ensure safe and fit for purpose designs
Maintain and enhance the company’s design processes, capability and reputation
Self-checking of own work to ensure accuracy and consistency
Requirements:
Mechanical or Chemical Engineering Degree and Chartered Engineer status
Significant and appropriate experience in respect of the design of combustion systems and equipment associated with large utility power plant.
Knowledge of the major principles of low NOx combustion and their application in large utility power boilers
Significant experience with the design of coal-fired burners for wall-fired utility boilers
Full appreciation of the requirements for fuel supply systems for coal, oil & gas firing
Knowledge and application of all relevant national & international design codes and standards
Understanding of the mechanical aspects of combustion system design
Self-motivated to ensure that work is produced on time and to budget
Strong written and oral communication skills in English
