We have an excellent opportunity available for a highly motivated and experienced Construction Engineer who will report to the Project Engineering Lead. This position will lead the execution of multi-projects at the Upgrader, from IFC through the execution phase; construction, mechanical completion and handover for commissioning.

- Defining with the Project Manager/Leader the Projects Execution Plan (PEP) for the project(s)
- Reviewing DBM's and AFE level estimates providing feedback to the project leaders
- Providing input through constructability reviews
- Executing the Project Execution Plan from the projects Issuance for Constructions, through construction to mechanical completion
- Maintaining the Lloydminster Upgrader approved contractors list
- Leading all construction activities on multidiscipline projects for the Project Group
- Overseeing and directing internal and external construction supervisors
- Leading the tendering process and kick off process with the Project Leader
- Handling the schedule, cost and project execution to completion
- Be the direct contact with the contractors in regards to execution, request for information, change management, monitoring and project completion
- Reporting of project progress, project safety and quality audits to the project leader
- Providing project control information on progress via schedule and cost
- Ensuring construction quality through Inspection Test Plans, punch outs, project document turnover and deficiency corrections
- Implementing and enforce the Upgraders change management system
- Leading all progress meetings with the contractors
- Ensuring equipment, tools and materials are effectively managed
Qualifications
Our ideal candidate has the following qualifications:
- An Engineering Degree (BSc or equivalent) in a related field with project execution experience. Exposure to refinery and/or upgrading environment would be a strong advantage
- A registered technologist with direct upgrader/refinery construction experience will be considered
- A minimum of 5 years of oil and gas experience with effaces in construction management
- A good working knowledge of industry codes and standards related to oil and gas
- Knowledge of contracts, contracting types and administration
- Good working knowledge of inspections and safety standards
- Previous experience in facility design, construction and hand-over would be an asset
- Strong knowledge of Project Management systems
- Proficient project planning and execution skills
- Knowledge of Environment, Health & Safety regulations
- Highly motivated, outstanding positive attitude and desire to grow job responsibility
- Demonstration of strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Good computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office products. Experience with Microsoft Project, Primavera and SAP would be an asset
- Knowledgeable in various contract types such as Lump Sum, Time and Material, etc.
