Responsibilities:
This position is a part of the plant operations team responsible for the Surmont Phase I Facility.  Major responsibilities for the Water Treatment Specialist include but are not limited to the following:
·         Ensure all company and governmental regulations are followed.
·         Safely conduct all duties and uphold [Company]  core values - SPIRIT
·         Responsible for maintaining the water plant and all associated water treatment processes to achieve boiler feed water qualities and recycle rates
·         Provide day to day operational assistance to the Unit Operator during day shifts and ensuring effective transition to night shift
·         Conduct regular inspections of the water treatment facilities
·         Assist with planning and preparing preventative maintenance programs of the plant
·         Recognize areas for chemical or plant optimization
·         Work with 3rd party contractors and vendors to provide technical services to support the improvement of the Surmont Water Treatment System
·         Maintain the quality of all reporting data for the appropriate Engineering designate for the Water Treatment System
·         Responsible for day to day routine analytical sampling
·         Ensure all Quality Assurance procedures are followed
·         Ensure and manage all lab activities, stock material and safety of lab procedures
 
Basic/Required Qualifications
·         Power Engineering, Water and Waste Water Treatment Technician or equivalent experience. 
·         Experience with MS excel and laboratory information management systems. ( LIMS )
·         3-5 years total analytical and QA/QC experience.
·         Experience in laboratory QA/QC program implementation.
·         Legally authorized to work in Canada on a regular, full-time basis without restrictions.
·         Preferred:
·         Having diverse knowledge of laboratory service facilities in SAGD refinery or process plant sectors would be an asset.
·         Experience in a gravimetric, titrimetric and spectrophotometric wet chemistry analysis procedures.
·         Experience in troubleshooting, modification and validation of these methods.
·         A true understanding and commitment to HSE leadership, and CPC’s core values.
·         This is a safety sensitive position and will be subject to the relevant requirements of the CPC’s Alcohol and Drug policy, which includes pre-assignment testing.
·         Ability to work effectively in a team environment, utilizing strong organizational and time management skills.
