Overview
The position of Captain is responsible for the command of the vessel to transport passengers, freight, equipment, and other cargo across oceans, bays, lakes, and in coastal waters, setting the course of the ship using navigational aids, determining geographical position of the ship using loran or azimuths of celestial bodies, inspecting the ship to ensure that crew and passengers observe the regulations pertaining to safety and efficient operation, and maintaining the ships log.
Qualifications
Candidates must have a USCG license for steam and motor ships according to waters navigated bytonnage of ship, at least two years of offshore experience as a Licensed Captain, the ability to understand job information letter, blueprints, load out sketches, procedures and general vessel forms, The Captain must have knowledge of all personnel classifications incorporated on the vessel, knowledge of all equipment involved in daily vessel operation and the ability to supervise their operations
