Job Description
Critical member of a multi-disciplined team adding value to the Permian asset through capital reinvestment and application of solid reservoir management skills. Works with team of geoscientists, production/facility engineers and field operators to identify, develop and execute drilling projects and to optimize C02/waterfloods and evaluate potential C02 floods. Responsibilities also include production and reserve forecasting for the annual budget and planning process. Successful candidates will enter Occidental's mentored program, which features on-the-job training through challenging job assignments.
Key Activities:
- Asset Production Optimization
- Work in conjunction with RMT to optimize waterflood and CO2 flood performance
- Active leadership and participation in “Well and
- Pattern Reviews”
- Reservoir Engineering Studies and Associated Project Economic Evaluations & Proposals
- Perform reservoir engineering studies in support of the RMT;s development plans. Completes economic evaluations using detailed technical work for prioritized projects
- Completes screening economic evaluations for upside development resources through preparing rate/reserve estimates, obtaining drilling, facility, operating cost estimates from appropriate personnel, and completing economic evaluations.
- Quantify remaining reserves potential, and evaluate rate, reserves, and economics for drilling and well work options.
- Develops plan with Geologist and Geophysicist for data acquisition needs in support of reservoir studies (seismic, well logs, etc) including project plans and cost estimates.

Reserves Management & Business Planning Support
- Supports RMT in reserve review efforts, providing technical support for base and wedge profiles
- Supports RMT business planning efforts, assuring
- PEEP (economics & reserves model) is consistent with current depletion, approved wedge investment, and probable/possible reserve cases. Assures PEEP contains appropriate drilling and investment well work project data.
Working Interest Owner Engagement
- Prepares / submits necessary documentation for outside consulting projects (AFEs) and presents project summary.
- Prepare for and present project recommendations and project status updates as needed in support of working interest owner requirements and requests.
Qualifications
- B.S. or higher degree in Petroleum Engineering or related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in a Reservoir Engineering role.
- Demonstrates an understanding of technical principles, theories and concepts within Reservoir
- Engineering
- Water flooding and/or CO2 flooding experience
- Knows how to use OFM or DSS to perform base reservoir surveillance and estimate reserves
- Knows how to use PEEP to calculate reserves and economics
- Knowledge of oilfield chemistry as it relates to corrosion scale and paraffin deposition
