Job Description
Our client is a large manufacturer of oil rigs. They have locations all over North America and overseas.
They also provide aftermarket parts and service to Oil & Gas companies all over the world.
They are looking for a talented Director of Engineering for their location in Calgary, Alberta.
The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for the overall management of their Engineering department.
· You ensure that all engineering services rendered to their clients are carried out effectively and efficiently
· You will be responsible for capital budgets, costing, workload balancing, coordination of personnel, setting goals and timelines
· You will ensure that product design meets their clients’ specifications and appropriate standards
· You will ensure that appropriate Code of Ethics are observed by engineering personnel
· You will implement policies and procedures
· You will ensure that company policies, procedures and standards are adhered to
· You will evaluate employees, make recommendations for hiring / promotion / termination / increments
· You will act as a mentor and guide to junior staff
· You will interact with Production and Sales whenever necessary
· You will assist with sales and quotations to ensure costing and scope of work
· You will ensure that timelines meet customer requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
· You have Masters degree in Engineering
· You have P. Eng designation – this is a must
· You have 15+ years experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment
· You have a sound knowledge of Oilfield Drilling and Well Servicing Equipment
· You have a background in “rig manufacturing” – this is a must
· You have a sound understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes
· You have working knowledge of industry standards such as API, ASME, CWB, OH & S, etc.
· You are computer proficient in AutoCAD and MS Office
· You have experience or training in Manufacturing Systems – preferably M2M
· You are resourceful and very organized
· You are good at multi-tasking
· You can manage several projects simultaneously
· You have excellent leadership and management skills
· You have good reasoning capability
· You possess good judgement
· You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
