The Job
[Company] is seeking to hire Mechanical Engineers across all disciplines to join a team of engineers and designers in performing all project related tasks. Experience in the design of mineral processing plants and equipment is required. Responsibilities of this role will include:
- Be responsible as a member of the Mechanical Engineering team
- Work with layout designers to develop optimum equipment layout in accordance with client's and other established standards.
- Be involved in standardization efforts within Hatch and communicate regularly with other Hatch offices.
- Prepare specifications for mineral processing equipment (crushers, grinding mills, conveyors, screens, cyclones, pumps, flotation cells, process agitators, air compressors, etc.).
- Execute technical bid evaluations for various equipment and making recommendations for purchase.
- Conceptual design of mineral processing systems for scoping studies and bankable feasibility studies.
- Carry out pumping system calculations to determine pump and pipe sizing.
- Be involved in reviewing the work of other engineers within the organization.
- The successful candidate shall provide detail design assistance to a team of engineers and designers, as necessary to complete engineering projects.
- The position offered is in the Mississauga office of the Company; however, some travel may be expected.
The Candidate
Successful candidates will have a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with 5 plus years experience in mineral processing system design, with recognized expertise in the following areas:
- Conceptual systems design
- Specifications and selection of related equipment such as crushers and screens
- Bulk handling and storage systems, conveyor design and related chute work.
- HVAC system design.
- Piping System design.
- Experience in the design of overland pumping systems, especially in tailings applications for the mining industry, will be a definite advantage.
Note:
- The attributes most sought after are solid professional achievement, strong interpersonal skills and commitment along with a familiarity with ANSI, ASME, ASTM, ASHRAE and AGMA requirements.
- Must be registered or eligible for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers ,Ontario.
