[Company] in Calgary has a challenging career opportunity available in the Investor Relations Department for a Manager, Investor Relations.  The Manager, Investor Relations is responsible for the investor relations function of [Company] Income Fund, a TSX-listed income fund expected to grow to at least C$1.0 billion equity market capitalization.  A  large retail investor base requires additional servicing.  The Manager, Investor Relations is also responsible for specific [Company] investor relations activities (e.g. internet site, shareholder returns reporting, peer valuation metrics, shareholder identification, presentation development) and assistance with other projects as requested, including significant marketing and travel.
 
Responsibilities
 
Strategic:
·         Represent investment community focus and imperatives in the Fund strategic planning process and material individual transactions.
·         Inform senior management and the Board of key factors affecting Fund valuation in the equity marketplace.
 
Investment Community:
·         Develop, maintain and enhance positive and credible long-term relationships with various investment community constituents of [Company] Income Fund and [Company] which includes the review of analyst financial models/draft reports and respond to analyst, broker and retail investor queries and organizing meetings/presentations with sell-side analysts, broker offices and large investors.
·         Execute strategy to develop direct following with buy-side portfolio managers and retail investors.
·         Ensure compliance with investment disclosure regulations and best practices, avoidance of selective disclosure risk.
 
Communications:
·         One of a few [Company] and Fund spokespersons.
·         Responsible for investment community presentations (equity road shows, earnings release conference calls, analyst/investor meetings/seminars), complete with briefing packages for senior management.
·         Responsible for quarterly earnings news releases/unitholder reports and investor oriented sections of annual reports.
·         Develop IR communication materials and delivery channels, including responsibility for development and continual update/enhancement of investor-oriented content on internet/intranet sites and for input to corporate direction regarding internet deployment.
 
Information Management:
·         Responsible for various unitholder return reports and interpretation of results, for benefit of senior management and Board, use as criterion in compensation plans, and inclusion in external/regulatory reports.
·         Compile working continuity of institutional investors and dialogue with each.
·         Prepare and update Investor Relations financial valuation models.
 
Business Environment & Other:
·         Anticipate and identify factors within the business environment, which have a critical bearing on Fund and [Company]; assess and communicate to senior management.
·         Monitor competitor strategies and performance.
·         Monitor energy industry developments and report to management.
·         Be familiar with all aspects of Funds and [Company]'s strategic direction, opportunities and operating/financial results.
·         Significant travel required across North America.
·         Will be required to frequently work outside of normal office hours, extensively in some cases, such as preceding road shows, quarterly results, presentations, and [Company] Days, etc.
 
Qualifications
 
·         At least 5 years industry experience or energy related experience.
·         Strong financial acumen with practical knowledge and experience.  One or combination of:  Professional Accounting Designation (CA or CMA); Master of Business Administration (Finance); Chartered Financial Analyst.  Knowledge of capital markets, corporate finance, accounting, taxation and quantitative analysis.  Advanced computing and financial modeling skills with experience in spreadsheets.
·         Advanced communication / marketing skills including  word processing, presentation software and the Internet are a definite requirement with 2-5 years in Investor Relations, Public Relations or a Marketing role.
