[Company] in Calgary has a challenging career opportunity available in the Public & Government Affairs Department for an Advisor, Community Partnerships & Investment.  The Advisor, Community Partnerships & Investment is responsible for the direct and vital impact on [Company]'s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policy and mandate amongst key stakeholders. These constituencies include employees, landowners, communities where the company operates, governments, regulators, suppliers and influence leaders, as well as shareholders and customers.  This function is responsible for supporting and managing the company's Community Investment Program & long term strategy by providing leadership and direction to the alignment and management of donations and sponsorships for the corporation and its member subsidiaries.  The desired outcome is to reflect the values of the [Company] brand that builds, maintains and protects our corporate reputation as a well managed organization that demonstrates strong leadership in corporate social responsibility. This function provides direct support of the corporation's operating goals, objectives and strategies and ongoing business development.
 
Responsibilities
 
·         Provide advisory support in managing a strategic community investment and sponsorship philosophy that supports the corporate brand.  This accountability requires that appropriate administrative processes are implemented to track all solicitations and responses in a timely manner as well as ensuring that budgetary processes and audit controls are in place.
 
·         Act as a resource for the Executive Leadership Team and senior management of the business units as requested on all matters pertaining to donations and sponsorship.  The position reviews, analyzes and researches the charitable sector to determine what organizations are priority concerns to the community, the corporation and our employees, how effective the organizations are, and the nature and extent of funding support requested.  This work includes analyzing programs, campaigns, financial statements and ensuring considered organizations possess official tax status.  Many of these requirements warrant site visits to charitable organizations.  As an Advisor, this accountability ensures that a strategic focus and clarity is maintained both internally and externally.
 
·         Coordinate logistics and services for internal and external Community Partnership events, e.g. [Company] playRites of new Canadian Plays, [Company] Cup at Spruce Meadows, National Aboriginal Writing Challenge, Bankers Day, etc.
 
·         Represent [Company] at internal and external events.  
 
·         Proactively research and implement innovative donation and sponsorship opportunities that will enhance the image and profile of the corporation and its constituencies.
 
·         Co-ordinate a comprehensive measurement tracking tool developed to ensure a measurable return on investment through its corporate contributions of cash funding, in-kind products and employee volunteer programs.  This evaluation tool, as managed through the LBG model, analyzes key indicators that include brand positioning and recognition, media coverage, third party endorsements and employee participation rates. This accountability also requires developing internal profile methodology in support of promoting workplace culture and values, as well as working with communications specialists to ensure a corporate image program associated with [Company]'s philanthropic profile is developed and advanced.
 
·         Represent the interests and brand profile of [Company] by providing support and consultation to provincial and national initiatives represented by corporations, governments and community as it relates to community issues.  Represent [Company] as an active, contributing participant of key external organizations including the Calgary Corporate Community Investment Council and other community related initiatives.  This accountability builds a strong external network and positions [Company] as a corporate community leader.  It also creates a knowledge bank that enables more efficient benchmarking, as well as acquiring general intelligence of issues and trends as it impacts the corporations. 
 
·         Ensure appropriate administrative processes are in place to record all solicitations and responses as well as ensuring processes are in place to support budgetary controls.
 
Qualifications
 
·         Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of directly related experience; good background in Corporate Communications, with an emphasis in Community Investment.
 
·         A holistic familiarity and strategic understanding of the linkages and relationships between company developments/operations and the community environment and the inherent opportunities of leveraging community investment programs in support of the company's ability to advance development/operations.
 
·         Well-developed communications, public speaking and interpersonal skills.
 
·         Strong leadership, teamwork, project management, event planning and strategic thinking skills.  Must demonstrate an ability to work with initiative and creativity when managing multiple tasks at once, under constant deadline pressure.
 
·         Strong interpersonal and management skills, including consultation, negotiation and facilitation skills.
 
·         Highest standards of personal integrity supported by open and honest communication.
