Job Description
[Company] is Canada’s leading publisher of trade magazines, directories and reference products for the oil and gas industry.
We are currently seeking a summer student, intern or recent graduate to assist our resident cartographer in development of our ESRI-based geodatabase.
The work is highly detailed, industry-specific and forms the basis for numerous highly-regarded mapping products at[Company] . This is an exciting entry-level position that will appeal to an individual seeking professional growth.
Position Responsibilities:
· works closely with the lead cartographer in development of GIS datasets
· research and validate geographic and industry data sources
· convert rasterized image data to digital formats
· import/data entry into the geodatabase using ArcView
· prepare map views for quality assurance signoff
· collaborate with quality assurance for revisions
Qualifications:
· one year of college experience in an acknowledged GIS program
· working knowledge of ESRI’s ArcView GIS tools
· experience with Adobe’s Creative Suite a definite asset
· good communications skills
· ability to work well in a team environment
· strong work ethic
Term:
· 4 months
· term may be extended if required
