Job Description
Our Oil & Gas Servicing client located in the SE is looking for a Senior Buyer to join their team. This position is responsible for:
Procuring all company designed machined piece parts or raw material for machine parts internally manufactured during the make or buy process.
Negotiates price and delivery in accordance with the dimensional and quality standards defined in the engineering drawings and specifications.
Visits vendor’s facilities, assesses capabilities, implements company quality management system in the vendor’s process, expedites outstanding orders and assembles technical resources (company engineering) to resolve problems early in the procurement process
Arranges for information exchange meetings between company designer’s and the vendor’s staff to increase the design for manufacturability features within the design.

· Director, Supply Chain
· Internal Relationships
· Works very closely with the Production Scheduler, project managers, expeditors and engineering.
External Relationships:
Direct relationship with machining vendors.
Educational Qualifications
Post Secondary Education and/or Professional Designation.
Principal Tasks
· Adheres to purchasing best practices and protocol.
· Creates a machining approved vendor list in conjunction with purchasing department protocol and standards.
· Stratifies and tiers the machining vendor list and maintains it against vendor performance.
· Negotiates price and delivery, places orders for services
· Manages the supply of all materials and information to the supplier, including
· Manufacturing drawings and specifications
· Revisions and ICD (ECN) information that is applicable to the work-in-process
· Forgings, billets and raw materials supplied by company
· Jigs, fixtures, mating parts and gauges, as appropriate
· Placing companies inspectors in the suppliers shops
· Expedites the supply in accordance with the contracted delivery date
· Informs the Master Production Scheduler of slippage and delays
· Guides and Coaches, Junior Buyers
· Continually works on price reduction of piece parts or raw materials.
· Thinks “outside the box” in achieving this task.
Specific Expertise
· Excellent computer Skills and experienced with Microsoft Office suite of products.
· Min 3 years experience with MRP, MRPII.
· 5 years experience in machining services purchasing.
· 10 years purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
· Strong contract negotiation experience
· Thoroughly understands inventory principles and protocol.

· Self motivated and continuous process improvement driven.
· High level of professionalism and integrity.
