Our client is a supplier of drilling rigs, tubular handling systems and control systems for the Oil & Gas industry all over the world. Their products are used to drill the most challenging wells.
 
They are looking for a highly motivated and talented Mechanical Design & Project Engineer to design land and offshore drill rig packages - including hoisting system, work basket, drill floor and associated substructure, pipe handling system and driller's house.   This opening is for their location in Edmonton, AB.
 
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
·         You will prepare conceptual layouts and detail drawings
·         You will select and specify appropriate materials and manufacturing tolerances
·         You will be working on Projects
·         You will make sure that these projects are in compliance with specifications, schedules, and API standards
·         You will do material strength calculations
·         You will approve engineering drawings
·         You will resolve design and manufacturing problems in consultation with the Engineering Manager
·         You will monitor and coordinate daily engineering activities in your team
·         You will prepare BOM-s and purchase requisitions
·         You will manage engineering documents for both their office in Edmonton as well as their Head Office in Europe
·         You will adhere to the engineering standards as per company guidelines
 
The ideal candidate will have:
·         You have a degree in Mechanical Engineering
·         You have 7 - 10 years experience with the design of oilfield equipment
·         Equivalent combination of education, training and experience will also be accepted
·         You are computer proficient in 2-D and 3-D (Inventor and SolidWorks) design tools
·         You have a sound knowledge of GD & T - (Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
·         You have some experience with stress calculations
·         You have a good understanding of materials & Manufacturing processes
·         You have an interest in drilling equipment and operations
·         You can work well independently as well as in a team
·         You have excellent communication skills - both verbal & written
