The position requires an accounting professional with a CA, CGA, or CMA designation combined with a strong technical tax knowledge base and competent management skills. The ideal candidate will have at least seven years experience in the corporate taxation area, together with oil, gas and oil sands industry expertise. Completion the CICA In-Depth Tax Course would be an asset. Preference will be given to those candidates displaying superior communication, organizational and team building skills. The successful candidate will provide guidance and leadership to a team of tax compliance professionals and bring the ability to work with other professionals both within and external to the company in completing corporate tax objectives. Other assets will include computer skills with spreadsheet, and corporate income tax preparation software. Knowledge of U.S. taxation would also be considered beneficial.
Specific duties include but are not limited to the following:
· Provide guidance, leadership and performance reviews to a team of five to seven tax professionals;
· Manage the preparation and filing of Canadian federal and provincial tax returns, including partnership tax information, Canadian foreign affiliate reporting, GST, PST, SR&ED and U.S. federal and state reporting;
· Oversee monthly preparation of tax account reconciliations;
· Ensure appropriate and timely tax installments and payments for all corporate entities;
· Plan and manage all government authority tax audits; and
· Review quarterly financial tax provision including adjustment to actual entries.
