Description
Contracts and Procurement position reporting to the Manager of Contracts and Procurement in the Canadian Capital Projects group. Manage various contracting and purchasing activities for Canadian Capital Projects ($100MM and above) where a dedicated Project Procurement team has not been assigned.
Responsibilities
- Perform contracting & purchasing activities for multiple projects within the Canadian Capital Projects portfolio. This includes the coordination of RFQ activities (Request for Quotations, Information, Proposals, etc.), processing Contracts.
- Establish and maintain strong procurement processes and procedures.
- Liaise with our procurement community.
- Utilize all Procurement expertise available within the company to gain greater market and contractor knowledge
- Place and manage various service contracts and purchase orders.
- Gain a full understanding of Procurement policy, procedures and practices and stewardship of these principles in all aspects of the role.
- Ensure strict confidentiality of all allocated contracts and bid processes
- Preparation of Contract Management Plans and Contract Administration Processes for various projects.
- Produce monthly reports on significant activity, savings and non-compliances to the Manager of Contracts and Procurement
- Education of the Procurement Process for Project Team Members
- Ensure front end involvement of all contracted services required by the Projects
- Assist in the development of Contract Strategy Plans as required
- Assist in the development and creation Project Procurement Execution Plans as required
- Ensure all Contract activities meet the needs of the overall Project Plan
- Liaise with ConocoPhillips Global Procurement Services centers of excellence for functional support and market advice
Qualifications
Basic/Required Qualifications:
- Post secondary education (University degree and/or Community College/Technical diploma) in Business Administration, Materials Management and/or Engineering field is preferable.
- PMAC (Purchasing Management Association of Canada) CPP designation is an asset.
- Enhanced business software application skills a necessity including SAP-MM, Excel, Word, etc.
- Minimum 5-10 years Procurement experience preferably Oil and Gas Industry relating to large capital projects (greater than $500 million) Engineering, Procurement & Construction activities.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada on a regular full-time basis without restrictions.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with EPC Contracts and Construction Contracts, specifically unit rate, cost plus and reimbursable.
- Knowledge of construction terms and conditions.
- Experience working with external suppliers and contractors.
- Commercial experience / expertise, and strong negotiation planning skills.
- Knowledge of contract language and legal clauses.
- Ability for building long-term contractual relationships with external contractors and suppliers to streamline business efficiencies
- Good networking capabilities, strong written / oral communication skills.
