We are currently seeking a Jr. Mechanical Designer who is interested and committed to a designing career to join our team.
As a Jr. Mechanical Designer you are responsible for the day-to-day activities related to all aspects of shipping, receiving and material handling in the R & D Shop and liaising with all Tesco Divisions, maintaining excellent working relationships.
Principle Tasks:
- Modify equipment layouts using SolidWorks.
- Prepare design calculations.
- Select components and materials.
- Work closely with engineers and/or more senior designers to ensure designs meet appropriate codes and standards.
- Review technical manuals.
- Assist in testing new equipment.
- Manage small projects
- Drawing preparation.
- Ensure drawings and BoM’s are issued in a timely manner to meet production requirements.
- Provide technical support to various departments with the company (production, purchasing, sales, etc.) to complete projects.
- Review drawings for technical accuracy.
- Prepare design change documentation.
- Respond to Vendor Technical Queries (VTQ)
The successful candidate should possess the following qualifications and competencies:
- Engineering degree or Technology diploma, consideration may be given to those applicants with suitable experience in lieu of recognized diploma.
- Experience in an engineering and manufacturing environment with design experience would be an asset.
- Knowledge of industry standards such as API, ASME, OH&S, ANSI, etc.
- Excellent computer skills, particularly related to SolidWorks software.
- Working knowledge of oilfield equipment.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to work with several projects at the same time
- Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers
- Good problem solving abilities
- Work with minimal supervision
