Sustaining Engineering Department
We currently have a new opportunity for a Document Controller within our Sustaining & Engineering department. Reporting to the Leader of Engineering Project Management, the Document Controller is responsible for maintaining and improving the technical documentation system within the TESCO Sustaining Engineering department. The position includes registering, processing, tracking, organizing, and filing controlled engineering documents and ensuring relevant documents are prepared and maintained in accordance with current standards.
The responsibilities of this position include:
· Use document control software; to maintain electronic records of ECN’s (Engineering Change Notification) and related revision control of documents
· Identify ECN status as changes progress from “Pending” to, “Edit”, “On Hold”, “Complete”.
· Input “document history” to track location and activity of documents
· Create and release new document records as needed
· Work closely with Engineering staff to keep data current
· Encourage staff to prepare documents to meet schedules
· Maintain hard-copy files of ECN’s and associated documents
· Link vendor data (spec’s, parts, manuals) to part definition
· Maintain Vendor catalogue electronic & hard-copy libraries
· Provide Technical Manuals to Shipping to meet required shipping dates of units
· Maintain engineering procedures and standards and assist in developing and improving them
· General filing & administration tasks as required, including data entry, filing, scanning, retrieval & photocopying
The successful candidate should possess the following qualifications and competencies:
· Excellent computer skills in MS-Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Windows Explorer, Adobe Acrobat (PDF’s), Database & Data Management software
· Familiarity with CAD programs (Autocad, Solidworks, Microstation) in terms of documentation revisions, printing and filing.
· Experience (2-3 years) with filing systems and document control systems
· Knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes
· High school graduate, post-secondary administration education preferred
