GEOTECHNICAL TECHNOLOGISTS
Responsibilities:
The [Company] Edmonton Geotechnical Group has a strong and increasing presence in challenging technical markets and areas, including mining, oil and gas, transportation, pipelines, slope stability, dams, geo-environmental and heavy industrial foundations.
We are looking for a 3 geotechnical technologist to add to our team. The position will entail conducting a wide range of field investigations including drill supervision and logging, installation and monitoring of slope indicators, piezometers, and other instrumentation for a broad range of foundation, slope stability, pipeline, mining, residential development, and roadway projects. Depending on workload and priorities there may also be times where laboratory or office work is required to support a project, such as preparation of drilling logs, summary and reporting of field and testing programs and other tasks. Assignment to a project will be commensurate to the level of qualifications and training, with increasing responsibility and project complexity with experience. Project sites will vary from the local Edmonton and surrounding area to more distant projects, primarily within central and northern Alberta.
Qualifications:
Preferred candidates will have a minimum of 3 years relevant experience, along with the following:
- Applicants should have a certified technology degree in the field of Civil Technology.
- Drilling experience with a variety of rigs and equipment including solid/hollow stem auger, rotary, coring, and becker hammer would be an asset.
- Experience with the geology and investigations in Northern Alberta and the oilsands would be an asset.
- Self-motivated individual with good organizational skills who can take initiative, handle challenges, prioritize multiple tasks, and provide superior service to internal and external clients. Superior computer and communication skills would be an asset.
