Overview
This application support assignment is with the [Employer] Upstream Leveraged Information Services (ULIS) – Business Information Services (BIS) team based in Houston. This position is part of a team providing application support for Upstream Houston-based groups in addition to participating in globally/regionally leveraged application support teams supporting the Upstream organization as a whole. The position will be co-located with the business in Houston.
The assignment will be a technical / analytical position providing application support for the Upstream Lower-48 Drilling Systems Management application (DSM). This solutions integrator role will work with the business to provide all aspects of application support and integration to ensure the business needs are met. The successful candidate must possess excellent VB6 development skills, be proficient in SQL scripting, and have experience analyzing, developing and supporting application systems. They will engage and coordinate our central leveraged web development team to perform DotNet development. The candidate will perform application support and development in alignment with our Business Partner’s service level expectations.
Job Description
- Provide all aspects of day to day application support to deliver a reliable and effective application to our user community. Strong focus on prioritizing and managing application requests with direct focus on delivering outstanding customer service while maintaining application stability.
- Coordinate application-specific break-fix and maintenance activities across Leveraged Information Service (LIS) groups using established processes
- Work with our Business Partner to plan, develop, and implement application enhancements and maintenance updates in support of our business strategy.
- Provide VB6 development to maintain and enhance the VB6 DSM application. Leverage our central web development team to perform C# DotNet development.
- Engage central LIS to provide leveraged services where appropriate.
- Establish application-specific support service level agreements.
- Respond to user reporting and data maintenance requests. Develop SQL scripts as appropriate to meet request.
- Develop training material and deliver training to users as appropriate.
- Develop and maintain application system technical documentation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Sciences or other disciplines with an IT focus or 5 years of equivalent experience.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States on a regular full-time basis without restrictions.
- Experience supporting business application systems. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills to quickly recognize, isolate, and resolve technical problems.
- VB6 application development experience
- Strong SQL scripting and relational database knowledge
